The Twelve Days of Integrations: Google Drive

Richard Huffaker

It’s that time of year again, though it may not quite feel it. The Google Doodles are all festive in some way, department stores are playing Michael Buble songs on a loop to almost entirely empty rooms, and I'm wearing the most garish sweater I own because no one can judge me for it for an entire month.

To celebrate, Clubhouse is highlighting twelve of our integrations with a detailed write up alongside their own little digital snow globes. We hope you return every day to enjoy these posts alongside your tinglers and fuzzles, your dafflers and wuzzles, and your delicious pot (or Beyond meat) roasts.

Our sixth featured integration is just a smaller part of a larger company. Google Drive

Google is ubiquitous. Their ads sometimes seem so targeted that some among us believe that they (alongside Facebook and Amazon) listen to our conversations and practically read our minds in order to serve us the exact right ad for Star Trek branded glassware just minutes after we got into an argument with our girlfriends about whether Janeway, Sisko, or Picard is the better Captain.

Of course, Google Drive has nothing to do with any of that and is instead a one stop shop for all of your documents, spreadsheets, and files. All of your important stuff, available from anywhere you happen to be. Can you believe it? I bet this "cloud" concept is gonna really take off one day.

The Clubhouse integration provides direct access to your Google Drive from within any Clubhouse Story. This enables you to find the exact right files and docs to share with others working on that Story without needing to open up too many extra tabs in Chrome, which could melt your laptop.

How does it work?

You can access your Drive by clicking on the Attach Files option in any Story.

The first time you do this it'll ask you to log in to Google Drive and give your Clubhouse account permission to access it. Once this is done, you'll see your entire drive appear in a Clubhouse window where you can select what you'd like to link.

Whatever you select will be added as an accessible link in a comment from you in the comment thread within the Story. Simple as that.

To remove the link, you'd simply hover over it and delete your comment.

If you'd like added details on connecting (and disconnecting) the integration see this help article.

With Clubhouse + Google Drive you can be a little be lazier, while also being a little bit more productive. Hard to imagine a more perfect combo than that.
